Coworking Space Etiquette: Do’s and Don’ts

Coworking spaces are vibrant hubs where creativity and collaboration flourish. To make the most of this shared environment, it’s essential to play nice and follow some basic etiquette. Here’s a fun and friendly guide to keep the good vibes rolling!

Keep It Down:

There’s no need to whisper all day long but do make sure to always be considerate when you’re on the phone or chatting with someone. Everyone understands that some level of background noise is acceptable in coworking spaces, but be reasonable about the amount of noise you create. Don’t be the person blasting music or on a loud call. Use headphones and keep conversations at a polite volume. You can also make use of the phone booths for added privacy during calls.

Respect Personal Bubbles:

Set up your gear neatly and respect others’ personal space. Don’t spread out like you own the place.  Keep your workspace compact and considerate. For example, make sure that you’re allowing enough room for other people in common areas, especially when you have a bunch of items with you.

Clean Up:

Leave shared spaces like the kitchen and common areas as tidy as you found them. Don’t leave a trail of crumbs or dirty dishes behind. We all love a clean space, so let’s keep it that way. No one likes dealing with a mess left behind by someone else, so make sure to toss your coffee cup and spare napkins before leaving.

Share the Perks:

Enjoy the perks like the complimentary coffee and tea, but don’t hog all the goodies. Be mindful and leave some for your fellow coworkers. Also, report any issues or shortages so everyone stays caffeinated and happy!

Be Friendly, Not Intrusive:

A Coworking space is a great place to network and make new friends. A smile and a hello can go a long way! But don’t be overly chatty with someone who’s clearly in the zone. Respect their workflow and boundaries

Book It and Stick to It:

Book meeting rooms in advance and stick to your time slot. Don’t be a room hog! Finish up on time and leave the space neat for the next group.

By following these simple tips, you’ll help create a harmonious and productive environment where everyone can thrive. Remember, a little respect and consideration go a long way in making your coworking experience awesome!
